Rain and Showers to Dominate the Coming Week in the Capital…
HAVANA TIMES — Atmospheric conditions over western Cuba continue to be influenced by an eastern trough, which is favoring the development of convective activity during the midday and afternoon hours. The prevailing northeast flow at lower levels continues to bring moisture from the Atlantic, with high moisture content throughout the middle troposphere. The activity of tropical waves in the Caribbean and the presence of an upper-level trough over the Gulf of Mexico are maintaining unstable conditions over the capital, with showers and rainfall forecast throughout the week, becoming more intense at the beginning and end of the period.
Over the coming days, the typical summertime daytime convective pattern will persist, with mostly cloudy mornings and precipitation developing from around midday onward. Thursday, June 25, and Friday, June 26, will see scattered showers of moderate intensity, mainly between 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. The weekend will bring variable skies with less intense rainfall, especially on Saturday the 27th and Sunday the 28th. Beginning Monday the 29th, instability will ease slightly, with periods of cloudiness and a reduced chance of precipitation. On Tuesday the 30th and Wednesday, July 1, convective activity will increase once again, with rainfall potentially affecting both coastal and inland areas of Havana.
Winds will be predominantly from the northeast and north, with speeds ranging from 15 to 40 kilometers per hour (9 to 25 mph), with occasional gusts of up to 50 km/h (31 mph) during convective episodes. Relative humidity will remain high, between 70% and 95%. High temperatures will range between 32 and 33°C (90 and 91°F), while lows will fluctuate between 25 and 26°C (77 and 79°F). Sea surface temperatures will be 29°C (84°F).
Across the Atlantic Ocean, Caribbean Sea, and Gulf of Mexico, no tropical cyclone development is expected that would pose a threat to Cuba during the next seven days. Nevertheless, Cuba’s Meteorological Institute (Insmet) is maintaining its routine seasonal monitoring, as the western provinces, together with the Isle of Youth, continue to be the areas with the greatest climatological exposure during the month of July, according to the 2026 seasonal forecast.
I can not even want to live in these temperatures with garbage on the street and no electricity to keep food and medicine safe . So sad Cuba would be a great place under different leadership.
