An Urban Beach that Serves as a Place of Escape for Cubans
The “Playita de 16” in Miramar
HAVANA TIMES – Playita de 16, in Miramar, Playa Municipality, is a coastal spot that for decades has been popular with teenagers and young people. However, lately there has been a more noticeable presence of senior citizens. Most people go into the water wearing shoes or flip-flops to keep the jagged rocks from poking and cutting the skin on their feet.
Now, in August, during the school break, parents bring their children here as a more affordable option. For families living nearby, this area is a kind of paradise they enjoy not only for health reasons, but also as an escape, a way to forget about the daily chaos, the crisis, and the inflation the country is going through.
If you feel like coming stop by. It can make for an enjoyable picnic by the sea. There are also small stands where you can buy snacks and refreshments.
