HAVANA TIMES – Atmospheric conditions over western Cuba remain under the convective pattern typical of this stage of the season, with intense daytime heating favoring the development of cloudiness and showers during the afternoon over the capital. Easterly and northeasterly winds continue to bring moisture from the Atlantic, with moderate winds similar to those of recent days.
Thursday the 27th and Friday the 28th will see isolated afternoon showers and thunderstorms. Over the weekend, Saturday the 29th and Sunday the 30th, a slight increase in atmospheric instability is expected, with the possibility of heavier rainfall in some areas. On Monday the 31st and Tuesday, September 1st, the usual convective pattern will continue, while scattered showers are forecast for Wednesday the 2nd, mainly in coastal and inland areas of Havana.
Winds will be predominantly from the east and northeast, at speeds of 10 to 30 kilometers per hour, with occasional gusts of up to 40 km/h during thunderstorms. Relative humidity will remain high, between 60% and 90%. High temperatures will be 33 and 34°C (91 and 93°F), while lows 25 and 26°C (77 and 79°F). Sea surface temperatures will remain near 29°C (84°F).
In the eastern Atlantic, a tropical wave near the Cape Verde Islands remains under observation, with the possibility of developing into a tropical depression in the coming days, although its current track does not pose a threat to Cuba. No tropical cyclone development is expected in the Caribbean Sea or the Gulf of Mexico during the next seven days. The Cuban Meteorology Institute (INSMET) continues its routine monitoring typical of this active phase of the hurricane season.
